Burberry Makes Me Believe in God. Except not quite, cause we still have PE classes

To begin with, I apologize in advance for the abundance of pictures. They're just....... so beautiful. *Dashes away tears in the Jane Austen manner, with monogrammed handkerchief*

Where to begin.
Because I've been working on a slightly dull-as-all-hell math project lately, let me put it to y'all in one simple-as-all-hell formula.

skinny,tight-fitting, long-sleeved shirts + colourful/graphic prints + classic Burberry-style sex-bombery = I WANT IT

This one especially. Oh, Jourdan Dunn, I am turquoise with envy..... (oh I kill myself with my wit.) Seriously, though, who knew you could make a trench coat so..... tight? Like I said, pure and unadulterated sex-bombery, cinched in with a nigh-on fetishistic belt. Subtle, but "packs a punch", a phrase I despise under normal circumstances. But here, I must admit, it is quite apt.

And the hats are just the cherry on top, almost literally. They are on the edge of superfluous -- if Christopher Bailey had decided to make them even a modicum more colourful they could have thrown the whole thing off -- but in muted shades they just make the whole shebang more quirky (I hate that word, but for want of a better one...) and oh-I-just-played-doubles-with-my-pal-Yasmin Le Bon-it-was-divine-but-I-gotta-go-the Vaccines-invited-me-to-go-have-drinks-backstage-with-them. Like a boss.

Again with the graphic prints -- they are everywhere, and I'm sure as hell not complaining. Anything that makes an icky autumn in London seem more like a safari in Central Africa with Garance Doré sounds A-OK.

Suited and Booted

Hello readers,
Here are my very favourite resort pieces so far. And seriously, I'm not just doing them because Tavi did.

SONIA RYKIEL

This isn't my very favourite collection but it is pretty swell, kids. Mostly I loved the pillbox hats -- I have a thing for hats, especially pillbox hats. But I hate it when they lose their shape. For example, I went to Paris a few weeks ago and I packed a vintage pink quilted pillbox beret with a matching hatpin (!!!!!!). And then I ended up not being able to wear it because it was all squished and I hadn't brought my non-existent portable steamer.
So, always bring a mini-steamer. And to go back to the subject at hand... it is a very wearable, very chic, very French, very Sonia collection. And that's pretty much all one can say on the subject.

PROENZA SCHOULER

When I first heard about Proenza Schouler, I was reading a copy of German Glamour. I was eight and to my inferior mind the clothes were boring. Sorry 'bout that, Jack and Lazaro. You'll be happy to know that I have completely reevaluated my hypothesis over the last few years. I mean, this is like, slightly-dorky-in-a-cool-way 80s schoolgirl goes on safari and marries an Arabian prince. I love the cuts of the shorts and how very un-Topshop they are. (I'm kinda starting to despise Topshop because they are so darn repetitive with their clothes and also their jeans always have the same cut. Still semi-stylish, but.. well... yawn.) And the blazers are. A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. You could just kinda through them over pajamas and look instantly cool, especially the whitey-silver and black one.

BALENCIAGA

Again. This is why today's post is entitled 'Suited and Booted'. I love suits 'cause you can through them out and look instantly put-together. Nicholas Ghesquiere even manages to make them playful with eyeshadow and dizzyingly printed blouses. See, this is the kind of thing that makes me jealous. Why the hell didn't I think of that?? ARGHHHHHHHHH.

Whatever. And to finish off, lets have some good ol'fashioned sleek, chich Burberry Prorsum magic. Because I need a trench coat, and I can totally afford this stuff. Totally.

My faves from Vogue supplement......

Hey there everyone........
Here are my favorite garments, or as my BFFs the British say, gawments. HERE WE GO. >>>
(Oh, and sorry if I seem a little less eloquent than usual, my sadistic physiotherapist Scott made me run for like an hour and then lift 20 kilos on my shoulderblades. It is painful.)
Anyway.

BURBERRY PRORSUM!!!!

Love everything.. the sophisticated draping and pleating and twisting etc. etc., the wicked cool platforms (see?? I was right! Killer heels and ladylike frocks... in your face, people who didn't believe me! ...Yeah, definitely less eloquent than usual.) Also, although the skirts are nice and short they don't look overtly skanky 'cause of the muted colours. I'll tell you something, those Burberry people are smart as heck.

Like especially the CLASSIC Burberry trench, revisited in metallic pink. And hey, it's only 11 months until Xmas! 10, even... And look, I didn't even notice! Tao Okamoto's modelling it! And there's even a picture in TeenVogue. God, I'm such an idiot sometimes. (She's on the top left, by the way.)

LOUISE GOLDIN//

See, I am still a corsetry lover at heart. Even if they are, in fact, yellow, periwinkle blue and pink and not the fierce monochrome seen at D&G. I know it's unusual for a 13-year-old, but I have always like the underwear-as-outerwear look (not that I put it to any use! Shock! Horror!)

And I have those gold socks!! How cool is that?

LUELLA//

AND.... Structure, she lives on. How could she not. If it weren't for pleats, gathering and such seemingly overdone things, we'd all be walking around in lacy/black/floral/sex-pistols-lyrics-inscribed bags of our choice. Not the good, Chanel 2.55 type, but the dumb canvas ones grocery stores use when they want us to think they care about saving the environment.

Anyhow, the look isn't exactly what one would call effortless, but even if your not these models you could probably pull it off (perhaps minus the topknot/multicoloured eyes?) Just a word of encouragement. No hidden undercurrents of evil intentions, promise. Heehee.

And also, FENDI//
Love-love-love the pale lavender/pink with the silver belt. The black stuff is a small outlet for my twisted soul. My friends, unleash the romantic within you, even if you are already cynical about the world and stuff at a tender age (me).
Love,
E
